Piezo Rhinoplasty
In nasal aesthetic surgery, chisels and rasps are used in removing the nasal arch and shaping the nasal bone. Developing technology has come into play in aesthetic nose surgery as well as in every field of medicine. One of the latest innovations introduced by technology in rhinoplasty is piezo surgery. Piezo is a technology that has been used by orthopedics, neurosurgery, hand surgery, dental and maxillofacial surgeons who are especially interested in bone for about 20 years, essentially using 3D sound waves to cut and shape bones.
What does piezo add to rhinoplasty?
Since the piezo only affects the bone tissue, no damage occurs to the vessels and other structures in the subcutaneous tissue, and accordingly, bruising and swelling are minimal. It increases the surgical comfort because of the controlled shaping of the bone.
